I don't know about you, but I like to indulge while on vacation, but do not want to pack on any extra pounds. Air travel, eating out, and inactivity can increase your risk for packing on 5-10 lbs. Who wants that? It is hard enough to come home after vacation, right? Here are a few tips that will keep the pounds on the scale, not on you!
1. Pack healthy snacks and even sandwiches for the airplane ride. Fruit slices, hummus wraps, raw nuts and dried fruit are options that are healthier than the airlines can offer. Avoid salty foods. Have you ever noticed how your stomach and feet feel full? Uncomfortable.
2. Bring an empty water bottle and once through security, fill it up and drink water non-stop. The recirculating air causes dehydration, which can cause more bloating, headaches, and false hunger.
3. Eat in if you can. If you rented a house or condo, buy healthy foods and cook some of the wonderful local foods. Treat yourself to dinner out a few times, but if you want to feel better, keep the extra pounds off, and save some money, cook in as much as you can. If you are in a hotel, at least busy some fruits and healthy snacks for the day! It adds up.
